Jay David’s building experience began back in his high school days. He learned the construction industry by working side by side with his Dad in every aspect of building from initial framing to finish painting. Over the years, he has continued this trade by constructing several homes and outbuildings from start to finish and completing many remodeling projects.
Jay has a natural gift as a talented artist. He has enhanced this talent through education.
As a student at Young Harris College, he excelled in his art studies
and then went on to continue his education through courses at the Spruill Arts Center.

Having a family heritage of furniture makers, Jay naturally possessed an interest and talent for crafting furniture. Growing up in the workshop alongside his grandfather gave Jay a true appreciation for the value and quality of handcrafted furniture.
The combination of all these talents lead to the opening of Black Dog Art Studios in 1996. His extensive knowledge of construction mixed with an artistic talent allows Jay to offer unique creations whether it be redesigning a bathroom, creating a sideboard or painting an original

piece of artwork.
Many people ask "why the name?" ...
It was inspired by our beloved pet. Our black lab, Bear, became a part of our family the same year that the business was started. His sweet disposition and extreme loyalty have always been a great example for how we should live our lives and treat others. We unfortunately lost our Bear in 2010 but he will always be a special part of our lives.
